Caroline and Brian held their ceremony and reception at the House of Blues in New Orleans Louisiana. The first look was photographed at the Monteleone Hotel on Royal St. The ceremony took place outside in the courtyard followed by a traditional New Orleans second line jazz parade leading up to the Parish Room. The reception was non-stop dancing by what seemed like everyone in the room! Just a wonderful wedding to photograph.

Days leading up to this wedding had the weather as being real bad the day of the wedding. Luckily Southern weather is constantly changing as the bad weather stayed away until the very end of the day. The Burrus House is just a great location for a wedding. The Bride & Groom drove away in this car at the end of the night. More later!

Hundreds of people and possibly hundreds of tripods, early morning sunrise, traffic. Name three things I normally dislike. However this was my first time seeing the Cherry Blossoms in bloom in Washington DC around the tidal basin. Amazing how many people get out to see this! Instead of focusing on the blooms I found it way more interesting to focus on the people, the amateur and professional photographers, the rows of tripods, the daily joggers, the clearly annoyed cyclists, the business travelers in flight, the folks going to work attempting to avoid the tourists.

Little behind on a Monochrome post this week. I was photographing a convention in New Orleans at the Roosevelt Hotel and when I saw this image from across the room all I could think of was “Moon Over Bourbon St”. The lighting was just right.

“There’s a moon over Bourbon Street tonight
I see faces as they pass beneath the pale lamplight
I’ve no choice but to follow that call
The bright lights, the people, and the moon and all
I pray everyday to be strong
For I know what I do must be wrong
Oh you’ll never see my shade or hear the sound of my feet
While there’s a moon over Bourbon Street” – Sting

Most of my weekend was spent photographing a Super Bowl event in the French Quarter and Uptown New Orleans. Photographing, editing, printing, repeat. Here are a few images I captured while out on the streets of the French Quarter during a quick break. I added the last image for some humor, that’s me with Troy Aikman.

Beth and Caleb were married in Houma, Louisiana. While the ceremony was a traditional wedding ceremony, the reception took on more of a concert atmosphere which made for great photo opportunities as both bride and groom play in the same band, Autumn High. Much more to come!

A couple more images from the Leica Monochrom in Washington DC. I find the shapes and patterns birds make much more interesting when captured with slow exposures.

I had photographed Kelly and Mark’s engagement session last year at the New Orleans Fairgrounds which was a lot of fun so I was very much looking forward to the wedding day. Hard to go wrong with a wedding that starts with English Tea Time and ends at the New Orleans Museum of Art. Keep calm and carry on!

Amazing how time flies. 3 years ago this month I was in New York City at the Hammerstein with 3 other photographers photographing His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. One photographic experience I will never forget. Here’s a few images from the event.

There was a lot of New Orleans folks at this destination Maui wedding and I was honored that Jenny and Mike had me travel to Hawaii to capture the day. This was my first time in Hawaii and I can say everything you see on a postcard or photo of the islands is exactly how it looks when you see it with your own eyes. Amazing. Jenny & Mike had a wonderful backyard (if I can say backyard – the view!) ceremony & reception. Special thanks to David Wittig for traveling with me to help with the photography. Enjoy. – Chris
