Lucky enough to get the chance to photograph a crop duster in Belzoni, Mississippi while heading to the Jackson MS Airport. The weather was not looking good so I was surprised to see some out. I just love the sound of their engines, the high pitch hum right before they come into view above the tree tops.

At least one of these two prints have been chosen to be displayed at the “DC As I See It” Exhibit at the Leica Store in Washington DC. The gallery opening is March 30th from 7pm-9pm. Stop by if you’re in the DC area! Exhibit runs through April. Can’t wait to see the gallery myself, for sure to have many talented DC photographer’s images on display!

Technical details – Both images created in DC with the Leica M9 using 35mm (people fishing) and 135mm (VH-60 helicopter) lenses. Processed in Adobe Lightroom adding my own custom monochrome preset. Both photographs printed on Epson Exhibition Fiber paper using an Epson Printer.

So I’m going to attempt to post a monochrome image every Monday. Here goes nothing! I figured this image was fitting for President’s Day.

I have a weakness for crop dusters. Crazy? Maybe but true. There’s an art to what they do, a dance in the sky, fascinating.

Iron Maiden’s “Ace’s High” may describe a crop duster in flight perfectly, minus the guns of course.

Going to Paris as a photographer is mesmerizing and overwhelming at the same time. I had not been to Paris since I was little, and I was way too young to remember. Most of the photos were of me sleeping here and there in front a famous monument.

As a photographer what do you photograph if you have never held your camera up to this city before? I looked through “Yvon’s Paris” before going and realized pretty quickly there is nothing in Paris that has not been captured by some form of glass before. Yvon’s images set the standard and as a photographer we are pretty much intruding on his streets, his canals, his glimpses of Parisian life. Yet I made my attempt to capture Paris. Paris the way I saw it with just one camera (Leica M8) and one lens(35mm Summicron). Enjoy, – Chris
